Honoring who you are and what you really want is essential to creating the kind of soul-aligned success we all truly want. However as women, it can sometimes be challenging to do so. Because of cultural messages many of us have received since childhood, being true to who we are and what we really want can seem selfish or even just plain wrong. In this video, I will talk about what overriding your own heart’s desires can look like in your energy field and give you tips for honoring your heart’s guidance so you can create more true success and fulfillment in your business and in your life. Stay tuned.
Recently a client came to me who found herself feeling overwhelmed. She was struggling to balance all the things she needed to do to market and grow her business, plus deal with the day to day demands and requests of clients. My client could not understand why she continually felt so frazzled by her business while she saw her colleagues with the same exact business as hers calmy sailing through their days, getting new clients and growing their businesses.
My client said to me “I don’t understand how my colleagues manage their businesses so well. They have more clients than I do and it seems to be fairly easy for them to handle all their demands plus handle all the other details of their businesses. I have no idea how they do it.”
When I looked at my client’s energy field I saw a large mass of dark blue energy in the center of her chest. This energy pattern told me my client had authority energy controlling her ability to honor herself and her own needs and desires. An authority figure had instilled beliefs about who and how she needed to be if she was to be loved and accepted by other people.
When I explained to my client what I saw in her energy field, she told me “I was taught by my mother that a woman’s job was to always put other people’s needs first. That was what would make me a loveable person who was acceptable to other people.”
My client realized her cultural programming caused her to prioritize her clients needs so much that she was not honoring her own needs. My client was continually over-working herself because she could not love herself in the healthy way that would prioritize and honor her own needs. She needed to trust her heart and let healthy self-love guide her so she could create success in her business that was sustainable as well as fulfilling.
Listening to and honoring our heart’s needs and guidance is absolutely essential if we are to be not just successful but happy and healthy in our lives and businesses. Relationships are a like a mirror–when we love, honor and respect ourselves others do as well. This is key to creating balanced mutually supportive relationships. Here are some tips to help you honor your own heart’s guidance so you can create the kind of healthy relationships and soul fulfilling success you truly want in your business and in your life.
1) Unconditional love starts with yourself
Unconditional love starts with you–first. Giving what you don’t have to give only causes confusion, exhaustion, and self-sabotage. Don’t do it. Love and honor yourself first. By doing this not only do you demonstrate healthy self-love and personal power but you inspire others to love and empower themselves as well.
2) Serve the higher good by honoring your own heart
Many of us as women struggle with our own cultural programming that tells us putting our needs first is selfish. Next time you go into guilt mode about honoring your own needs remember: honoring your heart’s needs is honoring what is best for everyone else. Why? Because your heart’s wisdom comes from your soul which has it’s roots in Source or Goddess or God or whatever you want to call it. So get over yourself and don’t argue with your own soul–allow it to support you.
3) Trust your feelings
Probably one of the hardest things for women to do is to discriminate a “should” from their heart’s guidance. Next time you get confused about what is truly for your highest good, check in with your feelings about your decision. Does it feel exhilarating, peaceful or joyful? Or does it feel heavy, vaguely depressing, or energy sucking? Your feelings are a direct line to your heart’s wisdom–trust them.
4) Don’t over-think yourself out of your higher good
Our thinking mind is our programmed mind. If you find yourself second guessing yourself trying to come up with reasons to justify a decision that intuitively feels good and right, stop it. Don’t let your programmed mind talk you out of your own higher good.
5) Honor yourself “out of your comfort zone”
If you are like most women you have been culturally programmed to be a people pleaser. Honoring who you are and what you really want when it seems at odds with other’s wants can feel uncomfortable at first. Recognize this bit of discomfort as a sign that you are moving in the right direction and re-wiring yourself so you can receive more love, respect, and success in your business and in your life.
As for my client, once we discussed what I saw in her energy field, she recognized she had been over-working herself and de-railing her own success by not honoring herself and her own priorities.
We then did some energy work to help her release her people pleasing habit so she could be true to her own needs and grow her business from a place of healthy self-love. When I next spoke with my client, she was feeling much more positive, calm and relaxed. She had found herself setting new healthier boundaries by automatically saying no when it was appropriate to do so. Her new behavior inspired a new level of respect from her clients and colleagues. As a result, both a colleague and a client sent her referrals and she ended up getting two new clients.
